00 has always had absolutely atrocious pacing.

Allelujah was a complete waste of a character even though he should have been just as important as the other meisters.

Lyle and Anew’s relationship had no development to it, the bad pacing meaning they only had time to do it with a timeskip.

S2 went from genuinely grey and grey morality, with all of the factions being a group you could genuinely support, to the evil evil A-laws who blast cities from orbit with laser cannons.

But despite these (and other) flaws I’ve still been able to still enjoy the show, however this recent episode pushed me too far to like it. I don’t mind the Bring/Devine clones, I don’t mind them being in mass produced units with trans-am, what I mind is them being used as missiles. Jesus christ, if Ribbons wanted trans-am missiles he could have put a drive on a missile and just launched it, would have been much simpler than building a shitload of MSes and putting a clone in each one.

Don’t get me wrong, I still like 00 and plan to enjoy the final two episodes, but this shit was ridiculous.

Basically my theory is quite simple, for some unknown reason, be it deliberate or an unavoidable result of the method they’re created with, the innovator’s have a built in psychological need for a partner. Looking at each innovator and we see some results that seem to corroborate this:

Bring and Devine both had their identical partner with them and were probably the most normal of the innovators, neither of them were quirky in the slightest. Also when Bring was killed, Devine did want revenge for him despite trying to hide it when speaking to the other innovators.

Revive is only slightly more quirky than Bring and Devine, which could easily be explained by the fact that, being without Anew, he attached himself to Bring. He was easily the most pissed off when Bring got killed as well.

Right, that’s the slightly less amusing innovators out of the way, next we come to to more interesting ones for these purposes.

First up; Ribbons, he was almost certainly the first innovator and as far as we can tell he existed without any form of partner for a long time. I would not be shocked if his god complex was partially caused by him being alone (and as the first innovator he would almost certainly have had an inflated opinion of himself).

Hilling is slightly interesting, she does have a pair in Ribbons, but unlike all the other pairs there is a significant amount of difference between them. I’ve been suspecting for a while that maybe when Ribbons had the other Innovator’s created, he was repelled by the idea of having someone identical to his marvellously perfect self, he could always think of the other innovators as being inferior as he made them, but someone absolutely identical to him would go against everything he believes about himself. Thus Hilling might always have the concept that she is slightly inferior to how she could have been, which leads to her fawning Ribbon~s complex in an attempt to prove herself to be better than all the other innovators in his eyes.

Anew is a bit of a weird case, there’s no evidence for or against this but it is possible that a large part of the reason she went to Lyle was her subconscious need to have a partner. There’s nothing to really suggest this but I thought I would mention it for sake of completeness.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tieria is a similar case to Anew, when he wasn’t really fond of any of the other people on Ptolemy he was a right jerkass, but once he started to open up to other people he became one of the nicest people ever. Neil’s death possibly hurt him so much because he was ‘partnered’ to him, and the fact that he hasn’t gone back the way is because he managed to ‘partner’ to everyone on the Prolemy. It would also possibly explain his being an absolutely adorable big brother figure to Mileina (oh god it’s so moe I sometimes think I’ll die).

Finally we come to Regene, everybody’s favourite NEET, well I’ve always held a little suspicion that under his rather troll like exterior he genuinely wants tobe with Tieria. It would explain why he got him to meet with Ribbons with a view to joining the innovators, whichever way Tieria decided then it presumably would not have advantaged Ribbons’ plan (given how little he cares about it) so the only possible reason I can think of is to either get Tieria to be on his side, or to get him to have even more resolve to oppose Ribbons.

Well yeah this is very possibly 90% bollocks but it was an interesting line of thought for me anyway.

Whilst I tend to prefer to remain unspoiled on shows that I’m watching, being a regular user of the Internet makes it often very difficult to avoid them. I also find that when shows are currently airing you see so many rumours flying about from so many different sources that it’s nigh on impossible to work out which rumours are accurate spoilers. This has meant that with a popular show like 00 airing I’ve been seeking out as many rumours as I can and getting extra enjoyment from the wild speculation on what will actually happen.

I’m very glad that I’ve been doing this now because one particular rumour suddenly slotted into place with several known facts about 00 in a way that seems to me that it fits surprisingly well. This is purely my own speculation and I am making no promises that it will be true, but it’s certainly an interesting idea in my opinion.

The first important fact to consider is that the Seravee has one more secret system than the Seraphim, we’ve seen it in both of the S2 openings in the form of that huge red cross that forms on the back-face. We don’t actually know anything about this system except for the seemingly reliable rumour that it requires use of Veda to activate it. The fact that the final arc of the show is going to be a battle to take back Veda lends more credence to this.

Now if the system does require Veda then that raises the question of how it was created, Celestial Being have had their access to Veda completely severed since episode 21 of season 1. This means that it would be nigh on impossible for them to create it after that point as they would have no possible method to test that the system works or is even possible. This means that it must have been at least partially developed before Ribbons jacked Veda, it is possible that Linda Vashti was working on this in the background of season 1, but given how Celestial Being would have won before then if it weren’t for Alejandro and Ribbons screwing them over I don’t think they would have been looking to do more than improve the weaponry for the gundams at that point.

So if Celestial Being didn’t create this system, who did? Well we already know of two secrets for the gundams that were developed before season 1 even started, the Trans-Am system and the concept for the Twin Drive. I do not think it would be unlikely for Aeolia to have included a couple more juicy tidbits in the data he sent, and perhaps that Seravee’s secret was included. Aeolia had a large hand in creating Veda so presumably he could have installed a secret back door for this system to take advantage of (on the secret level 8 not even Ribbons knows of or something), thus there would be less need for Celestial Being to test it as it could already have been proven to work.

Now at this point I assume you’re wondering what rumour it is that has sent me off on this tangent, and oddly enough it’s actually nothing that mentions Veda, it’s the rumour that mass produced mobile suits and Innovators will appear in the final battle. This may seem entirely unrelated but if you consider that Ribbons has been shown to take control of an Innovator via use of Veda then it all potentially comes together.

If this theory is correct then I imagine a scene in episode 24 or 25, Ribbons is using his mass produced innovators to kick ten different kinds of ass, Revive and Hilling could be alive or dead and Regene may have started his plan against Ribbons or he may still be standing behind him sharpening his knife. Celestial Being are losing and it’s only a desperate push that gets Tieria into Veda’s system core where he takes control back from Ribbons. Then he opens a video communication to Ribbons (who is being as arrogant as always) and just smirks at him.

“When Aeolia Schenberg sent us the concept for the Twin Drive system he also included this upgrade to the Nadleeh’s trial system. We didn’t really know precisely what its effect would be, just that it would allow an even stronger link to Veda for the person who uses it. We therefore chose to build it into the Seravee for me.”

Next Tieria’s eyes GLOW and suddenly all the mass produced innovators are fighting under his control, and Ribbons Almark shits enough bricks to build a new orbital ring on the solar power system.

I can’t claim that this theory is based on anything but my own wild speculation but I can’t see any real flaws in it, so it quite easily COULD be what the Seravee’s secret system is for. Please feel free to point out any gaping holes in my logic, like if I’ve missed any plot points that go against it.

There’s going to be next to no structure to what I write, mostly it’ll just be coming as a stream of what I think of as I’m writing. Right now the current shows I’m watching mostly are Gundam 00 and Sora Wo Kakeru Shoujo which I’m up to date with (at  least I would be if there were any subs for the latest episode of Sora Kake). I’m also trying to catch up on Linebarrels of Iron and I’m meaning to watch Rideback too, but unless I can get up to date I’ll probably not have much to say about them as it’ll be probably made irrelevant by episodes I haven’t caught up on. I might also talk about some older shows I’m watching but that’s significantly more unlikely, there’s only so much that you can say about a TV show before it’s all been said and I don’t think anyone wants to come to a blog talking about old stuff that’s already been talked to death.

Of course everything I’ve just said could be a complete lie if I decide on a whim that I want to write about something completely different that’s caught my interest then that will turn up here.

Well I daresay my posts in future when I’m actually talking about stuff will be longer than this, I’m just not very good at introducing myself or a topic, once I get going I might even be interesting to read, who knows?
